The Rotary Club of Eastbourne held its second International Speaker Dinner at the Cavendish Hotel in Eastbourne hosting 176 guests, their speaker being Malcolm Barber Co-chairman of Bonhams, speaking on his life auctioning classic cars around the world.

To add to the occasion a number of guests drove their classic cars to the venue to provide a fitting display to the event.

On arrival the guests were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine before proceeding to the Marine Suite for a 3 course dinner and then the highlight of the evening Malcolm Barbers talk.

Malcolm spoke with great passion about his love of classic cars and produced a wonderful presentation of classic car photographs with stunning prices at which they had been sold. During Malcom’s talk he auctioned a number of generously donated items, raising a magnificent figure of £5852.

The sum raised during the evening is still to be finalised but is expected to be close to £9500. This magnificent sum will be divided between the Rotary Club

of Eastbourne’s charities and the Friends of the DGH.
